Mindfulness Techniques: This approach involves learning how to focus, in the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. One example is to focus in the moment on five things you can see, four things you can hear, three things you feel on your skin, two things you can taste,and one thing you can smell. Being mindful, in the moment, is a powerful means of self-change.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): makes use of the natural healing capacity of the brain to assist individuals in overcoming traumatic life events. Through this approach, millions worldwide have found healing. EMDR is also helpful for distressing life experiences that do not reach the level of a PTSD diagnosis, but still impact functioning and quality of life.
Multi-modal Therapy is an eclectic approach. Human beings think, act, sense, imagine, feel and interact. Therefore the assessment and treatment considers all BASIC I.D.: behavior, affect, sensation, imagery, cognition, interpersonal relationships, and drugs/biology.
