Your roadmap
The Family TLC Method: Your Path to Success
1
Intake Phase
Knowing what to expect
Your therapist makes sure you are fully informed about counselling, understand what to expect from Family TLC and the Family TLC Method, and have the information you need before moving forward.
2
Discovery Phase
Creating your Care Plan
You and your therapist begin exploring what has brought you to counselling. Your therapist takes time to understand your experiences, asks questions, and notices patterns and connections.
3
Working Phase
Working directly on the goals
This is where you and your therapist put your Care Plan into action and focus on the concerns and goals identified within it using therapeutic modalities, strategies and interventions based on your needs.
4
Check-In Phase
Maintaining your progress
Once you and your therapist agree that the goals in your Care Plan have been achieved, appointments become less frequent. You have more opportunity to use what you have learned independently.
5
Follow-Up Phase
Staying connected
When you and your therapist agree that regular appointments are no longer needed, active counselling comes to an end. You remain connected with Family TLC and can reconnect with counselling in the future.

A story like yours
How One Barrie Nurse Learned to Slow Down
This story is about a nurse and mother of two from Barrie, a composite of many people who reach out to us. After a demanding year at work, she was waking up at 3 a.m. with a racing mind, snapping at her kids and dreading every Monday. She kept telling herself it would pass.
When she called, our Matching Specialist matched her with a therapist who works with anxiety and burnout. Together they looked at what was draining her and practised small changes: calming her body, setting limits at work and asking for help at home. Over time, her mornings started to feel lighter.
