Nol Feldman, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MACP, Ph.D., Special Education

Nol is a psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with a particular focus on supporting children and teens through the emotional, behavioral, social, and developmental challenges that can arise as they grow.

His work with young people includes anxiety, ADHD and executive functioning, emotional regulation, self-esteem and confidence, behavioural concerns, motivation, social learning, peer relationships, neurodiversity, and school-related stress. Nol believes that meaningful therapy begins by looking beyond the presenting problem and understanding the whole person; what they are feeling, how they see themselves, what is happening in their relationships, and what may be contributing to the difficulties they are experiencing.

Nol’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, practical, and strengths based. His approach is grounded primarily in behavioural therapies, Emotion-Focused Therapy, social learning approaches, and creative and expressive interventions. He believes young people need a therapeutic relationship where they feel genuinely heard and respected while also developing practical skills and strategies they can use outside of therapy. Treatment is individualized to the person rather than expecting the person to fit a particular therapeutic model.

Alongside his psychotherapy training, Nol brings a distinctive background to his work with children and adolescents. He holds a Ph.D. in Special Education and has more than 15 years of experience in education, including extensive work with children with learning, behavioral, social, emotional, and executive-functioning needs. This experience gives him an additional lens for understanding how mental health, learning, family relationships, and the school environment can interact in a young person’s life.

Nol works collaboratively with parents and families to help them better understand what may be happening beneath a child’s behavior and develop practical strategies that support change at home. His Special Education background also allows him to assist with school-related concerns, educational and functional assessment within his scope of practice, executive-functioning and behavioral measures, and recommendations that can help bridge the child’s needs across therapy, home, and school.

While children and adolescents are a particular focus of Nol’s practice, he also enjoys working with adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, self-esteem concerns, emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other mental health concerns.

At the heart of Nol’s work is the belief that therapy is not simply about reducing problems. It is about helping people better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, develop new skills, strengthen relationships, and build greater confidence in their ability to navigate life.
