William Stanus
William Stanus has completed his Masters of Counselling Psychology degree from Trinity Western University (in British Columbia). A native of Ontario, William spent several years on the west coast in Master’s studies before returning to Ontario. During that time he had the opportunity to intern at Fraser River Counselling in Abbotsford, and then here in Barrie at Family TLC.
William’s focus is on working with adults (18 and over) in individual therapy. He is comfortable with a wide variety of presenting issues, including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, addiction, self-esteem, relational issues, meaning, identity conflicts, problems related to sexuality, and trauma.
William has a specific interest in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, as well as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). He has done training in both of these modalities.
William is a strong believer in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. His commitment is to provide a safe and caring environment in which clients can feel understood as they identify their issues and work, with their therapist, toward meaningful life change.
William is happy to work with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, including those from multiple faith traditions. At the same time, William is a committed Christian, and is also open to providing counselling from a Christian perspective for those persons seeking such services.
