Jorhdin Banner

Registered Psychotherapist

Jorhdin works with adults, couples and families experiencing PTSD, early trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, communication concerns and long-standing emotional patterns. She also works with people seeking deeper self-understanding and greater clarity about how past experiences continue to influence the present.

Some struggles are not new. They may be patterns you have carried for years, reactions shaped by earlier experiences, or relationship difficulties that keep resurfacing even when you understand them intellectually.

With more than three decades of clinical experience, Jorhdin helps clients look beyond the immediate concern to understand what may be happening underneath it. She has been in private practice since 1991 and has been part of Family TLC since 2020.

Jorhdin’s style is thoughtful and insight-oriented. She helps clients recognize recurring emotional and relational patterns, understand how earlier experiences may still be influencing the present, and use that understanding to work toward meaningful, sustainable change. Her work is especially focused on helping people move beyond simply coping with symptoms to developing a deeper understanding of the patterns, trauma responses and experiences influencing their lives.

With couples and people experiencing relationship difficulties, Jorhdin looks beneath conflict, distance and repeated misunderstandings to understand what may be happening within the relationship. She helps clients recognize patterns in how they communicate, respond and connect so they can develop healthier and more productive ways of relating to one another.

Jorhdin also brings extensive training to trauma work. She attended the C.G. Jung Institute Analyst Training Program in Pittsburgh and trained at the Bradshaw Center in Los Angeles. Her training includes EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Myers-Briggs assessments, Trauma Incident Reduction Therapy and dream analysis.

Her academic and professional background is also an important part of what distinguishes her. Jorhdin holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Calgary, a Master of Arts in Sports Psychology from York University, and a PhD in Community Health with a focus on Health Psychology and Stress Management from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She has also served as a member of the Cleveland Clinic Psychology Department and as Chair of Certification for the former Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists.

Jorhdin is a Registered Psychotherapist and provides counselling virtually.
