Teen Therapy in Newmarket to Help Your Teen Feel Heard

"*" indicates required fields

How it works

Pressure to perform, social media, friendship drama and big emotions can make the teen years overwhelming. When your teen stops sharing what’s going on, it’s natural to feel worried and shut out. Our Newmarket teen therapists build genuine trust with teens, helping them manage anxiety, improve self-esteem and cope with stress, while offering parents guidance along the way.

We support families from Newmarket, Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Georgina and King. No waitlist.

Your roadmap

1

Intake Phase

Getting started

The therapist helps your teen understand what to expect from counselling and the Family TLC Method, establishes how counselling will work and gives your teen an opportunity to ask questions.

2

Discovery Phase

Understanding what is really going on

The therapist gets to know your teen beyond the concern that brought them in. Parents’ concerns matter too, but your teen stays actively involved in setting the goals that become their Care Plan.

3

Working Phase

Doing work that has meaning for the teen

The therapist and teen work toward the Care Plan goals — noticing patterns, understanding emotions, practising new responses. If something is not helping or your teen feels misunderstood, the work is adjusted.

4

Check-In Phase

Building on progress

As your teen becomes better able to use what they have been working on outside counselling, appointments become less frequent while the therapist and teen review what has changed and what still needs attention.

5

Follow-Up Phase

Staying connected

When regular counselling is no longer needed, active counselling ends. Your teen remains connected to Family TLC and can return if circumstances change or counselling becomes helpful again.

FAQ

Teens work on the concerns that matter most to them, such as anxiety, low mood, school stress, self-esteem, anger, friendships and family conflict. Therapists help them understand their emotions and build practical coping skills they can use at school, at home and with friends.

Our teen therapists use an approach that feels relatable and respectful to young people ages 13 to 18. Sessions are more conversational and flexible, and therapists pay close attention to building trust so teens feel comfortable being honest about what they’re experiencing.

Yes. Confidentiality helps teens feel safe opening up. Your teen’s therapist will explain privacy at the start, including the limits when safety is at risk. Parents receive general updates and support without the details that could damage the trust your teen has built.

Yes, the matching consultation for parents is free, with no pressure to book. Therapy sessions are paid services. Our Matching Specialist will explain session fees and availability and help you find a therapist who is a good fit for your teen.

Yes. Teens can meet their therapist in person at our Newmarket office on Yonge Street or through secure video sessions from home. Online sessions can make it easier to fit therapy around school, sports and other activities.
