Golnoosh Shahbaz is a psychodynamic psychotherapist with a passion for helping people “come home to themselves and find their own voices through psychotherapy.”

For over a decade, she has supported individuals, couples, families, and children through emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. Her own experiences with loss, trauma, and recovery have deepened her empathy and strengthened her belief in the healing power of authentic human connection.

Golnoosh is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and has completed extensive psychoanalytic training, including specialized couple therapy training with Professor Arthur Nielsen of Northwestern University, author of A Roadmap for Couple Therapy. She is also a graduate of the comprehensive psychoanalytic program at the Hamava Institute, and is a guest member of the Toronto Psychoanalytic Institute.

In addition to her psychoanalytic work, Golnoosh has training in various therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, EFT and others, though her primary orientation is psychoanalysis. In couple therapy, she has been influenced by the Gottman Method as well as the work of Jill and David Scharff, but she primarily practices an integrative model that combines systemic, psychodynamic, and behavioral approaches.

Her therapeutic stance is grounded in the belief that therapy is a relationship between two human beings—both subjective, both imperfect, and both willing to think and feel together. It is not about “fixing,” but about creating a space where life’s difficult experiences can be held, understood, and transformed.

In her work, Golnoosh offers a safe, compassionate space where your story matters, your voice is honored, and your growth is supported. She welcomes and affirms all ways of being, including diverse gender identities and LGBTQA+, and values transparency, cultural awareness, and genuine human connection above all.

Outside of her professional life, Golnoosh enjoys spending time with her dog, Millie, tending to her vegetable garden, hiking, biking, and nurturing her deep love for reading—especially memoirs—and listening to thought-provoking podcasts.
